Background
The globalization era inflicts potential impact and implications for TVET systems. As a consequence of advances in transportation, communication, and information technologies, the implications of globalization for TVET include the areas of, for example, standardization, policies, skills and personal development, curriculum design, social and culture, pedagogical innovations, and resource mobilization.
The world of TVET is undergoing substantial change to reconsider the role of TVET systems in a more globalized accentuated by interlinkages among social, economic and environmental issues. This change reflects the role to achieve several targets of Sustainable Development Goal 4 referring directly to technical and vocational skills by 2030. However, the role of rapidly growing technology provides not only new opportunities but also disruptions in unprecedented changes. The essential question is how adapting to change when taking on the key challenges and opportunities facing TVET.
The 5th UPI International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training focuses on “Globalization, challenges, and disruptions in TVET”, to discuss key challenges and adaptation strategy to changes on technical and vocational education practices in the region and beyond. Organized by the Faculty of Technology and Vocational Education and TVET Research Center (TVETRC), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in collaboration with Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Universitas Palangkaraya (UPR), Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA), and Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Thailand, the conference will take place in Bandung, Indonesia, on 11-12 September 2018. It provides a forum for knowledge and experience exchange, and invites TVET scholars, practitioners, decision makers, and stakeholders from all parts of society and all regions of the world to share their knowledge, experiences, concepts, examples of good practice, and critical analysis with their international peers.

Call for Abstracts
Authors are requested to submit an abstract to the Organizing Committee by 20 August 2018. The abstract must contain the following section: introduction, aim of the study, method, results, conclusion, and keywords. The abstract must have no longer than 200 words.
Abstract and Manuscript Submission
[IMPORTANT] To submit an abstract, authors must register first (click here). Then they can submit their abstracts by logging in to this site (menu “Submission System” then “Login”). The manuscript (full paper) can be submitted only after authors submit their abstracts. The whole submission process is done fully online (NOT by email) to guarantee smooth administration. Letter of Acceptance (LoA) and Letter of Invitation (LoI) can be downloaded directly from your account once your abstract is accepted to be presented at the conference.
The paper must be submitted two weeks after the conference day (26 September 2018). Please go to “Submission System” menu then “Login” to submit the full paper. Selected papers will be indexed in Thomson Reuters / Scopus.
